
Gwynedd Councillor Beca Brown, who had successfully brought a motion to support the campaign to fellow councillors earlier this month, said: “Sexual abuse shatters lives, tears families apart and scars communities. It can have a negative impact on mental and physical health and can affect the ability to form good relationships.


Veteran actor Nadia Jamil, who had been very vocal about her sexual assault ordeal to raise awareness, has shared her two cents on the matter once again on Twitter. The actor, taking to the micro-blogging website, shared, "The first time I was sexually abused I was four years old, then nine and then 17, 18."
Talking about fighting back, Nadia shared, "It's taken me years to fight deep depression, sadness, fear and shame I had no business feeling to be where I am now. Healed. Not just surviving but thriving. There is a way from pain to peace. You are never alone."

Emma Jane was invited to speak with Niall Boylan on his radio show. The interview gained lots of support, proving once again how vital it is we speak out - if we can.

In the interview, she also urged parents to keep a watch on them and notice the behavioural changes. After the interview, Nadia Jamil on X said that it was not an easy interview for her.

The former Coronation Street actor has become an ambassador for his friend Emma-Jane Taylor’s mission.

Emma-Jane Taylor, who was abused as a child herself, began the #NotMyShame movement on social media last year.
Since then she has received support from campaigners in America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Dubai, South Africa, Germany and Pakistan.
The campaign was also highlighted at the United Nations general assembly meeting in New York last month when Pakistani actress Nadia Jamil shared a video calling for zero tolerance of child sexual abuse while wearing a #NotMyShame T-shirt.
Penarth Town Council recognises the NotMyShame campaign in May 2024, in a newsletter. They shared a picture of the campaign white ribbon and by showing their support gave much hope to many.

In 2023, a campaign called #NotMyShame became a global movement and all because campaigner, Emma Jane Taylor wore a tee-shirt with a quote saying ‘#NotMyShame. I am not afraid to say I was sexually abused as a child, I was just a child. It isn’t my shame“. It has quickly become a global movement and led to her being offered support from actor Charlie Lawson, aka Jim MacDonald, Coronation Street.
